All-American Apple Pie

All-American Apple Pie

Ingredients:-

1. Bring oven to 425 F. Spray a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate with vegetable cooking spray.

2. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, lemon zest, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well.

3. Peel, core, and thinly slice apples. Add apples to sugar mixture; stir until coated. Stir in raisins. Spoon into prepared plate.

4. Place pie crust on top of filling. Trim edges, pressing against edge of pan. Using a sharp knife, cut steam vents in pie crust. To glaze, lightly brush pie crust with beaten egg. Sprinkle with sugar.

5. Bake until pie crust is golden brown, about 35 to 40 minutes. Place on a wire rack and cool for 30 minutes. Serve warm.

In medium work bowl combine baking powder, flour and salt. Mix together. Beat butter until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat again until very fluffy and light-yellow. Add egg yolks and beat in briefly. Add 1 Tsp. vanilla and mix well. Add half of flour and lightly stir in. Add half of milk and lightly stir in. Sift over rest of flour mixture and stir, then add rest of milk and stir. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Add 1/3 whites to batter and gently stir in. Pour remainder of whites over batter and fold in gently. Divide batter between 2 buttered and floured 8- or 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes or until wood pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool on rack. Ice cake as desired. Makes about 9 servings. Blueberry Cupcakes/ Muffins

On slow speed, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and mix until blended. Sift dry ingredients and add alternating with milk.

Mash 1/2c blueberries and stir in by hand. Add rest of blueberries, whole. Fill muffin cups high and sprinkle with sugar. Bake 375 F, 25-30 minutes. Remove from pan carefully.

Directions: Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of the warm water in a deep glass or plastic container. Stir in remaining warm water, flour and sugar. Beat until smooth. Cover with loose fitting cover. Do not refrigerate! The starter requires 10 days for fermentation as follows:
DAYS 1, 2, 3 and 4: Stir batter
DAY 5: Add 1 cup each milk, flour, sugar and stir
DAYS 6, 7, and 8: Stir batter each day
DAY 10: Add 1 cup each flour, sugar, milk and stir.
The batter is ready to use.
This makes 3 cups batter to use in the recipes. If you want to you may pour 1 cup batter each into 3 containers and give 1 or 2 away.
Save 1 cup to begin process all over again OR you can use all 3 cups batter for the recipes at 1 time and when you want to bake these again just start the starter again.
